| | | Re: What be this??? You're right on Winter arriving BROC, but I don't think this is H. hypojethus. The gills look very similar in themselves, but the way they're attached is quite opposite. Compare with a recent find of this species that I photographed on Sunday;
Note the gill attachments of my specimen- Slightly decurrent, whereas Ian's look more free. My initial thoughts of Ian's fungus are circling the genuses Tricholoma, Lyophyllum or Hygrophorus.
I'll have a look through the books for this one, and whatever it is, it's a lovely species!

Brian | No it was growing on rotting woodchips in a park surrounded by a field.. the wood is conifer.. also growing where Gymnopilus something or another ( i know name just can't remember), Hypholoma marginatum, Psathyrella piluliformis, Pluteus cervinus
