| | brown and blueish brackets?
I thought this might be a Crepidotus spp, but cant find it - maybe a jelly?
About 3'' long, so only small, with others starting to emerge and troop. I think on beech.
Slightly gelatinous, with a litle sort of scurfiness on the cap.
Could be easy for someone out there!
This bracket is also puzzling me - blue tinge to the upper surface, white pores, only a couple or so appearing, wood unknown but probably deciduous.
Thanks all.
Thanks
Ken

| | Re: brown and blueish brackets? Understood JP - it looks like it I agree, but . . . . not jews ear, I'm sure - very common, and quite familiar, there was no earhole (!) and the underside has a whiteish tinge, which I dont think jews ear has - it tends to be the same brown inside, but slightly wrinkly, as the cap top surface.
OR, could its white tinge disappear and I've just never seen it as whiteish? ? ?

Cheers J.P. | Brilliant - Postia caesia looks absolutely right, hopefully!
Thanks again.

Ken | [i]Postia caesia/I] it is Ken, as long as it was on conifer wood. P. sub caesia is found on deciduous wood.

| | | Re: brown and blueish brackets? I'm in strong agreement with J.P's suggestion of Auricularia auricula-Judae. Look at the specimen in the top left. Without a doubt that this is either an atypical specimen or one that's only young in development (more probably than the former). They don't look like they're that old, plus they change colour when dry, and obviously the edges of the specimen are more susceptible to moisture loss, so this would account for your colour changes.
I'm plumbing for Auricularia auricula-Judae |

| | Re: brown and blueish brackets? mmmmmhhhh - I hate to go against the experts - but this really was a bracket, not hunched up like jews ear, trust me.
On the other hand - cant find what it might be !

By the way, you do sometimes see Auricularia auricula-Judae growing as a flat bracket- they're often not ear shaped. |
