Any takers? | Nick
Not enough lamellae or lamellula for pelianthinum and should also have a darker stipe

| | | Re: Psathyrella ID Please! LOL that's good enough to warrant locking the image in a tight vault until we get a Monograph on the genus

| | | Re: Psathyrella ID Please! Right, to revive this thread, I've just spent two hours on the scope with one of these that I found today. I've had quite a good microscope session in that I've decided to take the plunge on a good microscope camera with a micrometer attached. Perhaps I'll hassle Rob about his as it seems to show excellent images- though most of that is down to his prep of slides I would assume.
Right, well I am still absolutely stumped. I have no decent literature and this is where I really am completely useless. I've nothing to refer to for features of microscopic info because I have no literature on the suspected genus, nor do I have a way of measuring spores which is limiting ability at the moment.
Anyway, see if any of you chaps and chapesses can make anything decent of these bloody terrible images.
These are a little better. I originally took some images of these to ask why they were appearing to split, but I later came to the conclusion that the brisk tap of the slide with the scalpel handle was perhaps, too brisk
Very odd translucent things which I first thought to be Cystidia, but later eradicated that thought upon examining a gill edge to discover many, many bottle shaped cheilocystidia.
Then this image made me (stupidly) think that the weird things might be basidia- seem to be some sort of spore attached in the fashion of what I'd expect to be a basidium. It may well be, but I doubt it- the spores are the wrong shape, colour and size- though if they're still attached to the basidium, they might not be developed.
All very odd, but very interesting.
Any takers on what anything means?
