sorry for the delay in getting this response in - the postman seemed incapable of understanding your perfectly addressed envelope!
this is in response to your initial thread on the 7th (Nick can you do that clever trick and link this to that one, please?) regarding the identity of a Stropharia with turquoise coloration found, as I recall in a garlic patch.
I have now had a chance to look at the specimen you sent me and here is a photograph of a small stretch of gill edge: it shows numerous 'cystidia' - arrowed - and these can be seen to be 'chrysocystidia' ('chryso' meaning golden); plentiful chrysocystidia on the gill edge of a Stropharia like yours is 100% diagnostic of Stropharia caerulea
sorted . . . finally!
