| | | fungi for identification the first one is growing on a fallen tree (oak i think) quite a few in small groups along the trunk,no noticable smell, caps approx 25mm diam,

the second one was growing in leaf litter under lime trees, several small groups, no noticable smell, caps approx 25/30mm diam.

I think you will find the first one is a very old waterlogged Sulfur Tuft.

| | | Re: fungi for identification My first thought with the second was Psathyrella candolleana but on looking it up I think the gills are too pale - so I'm quickly stumped

Mal | the gills dont seem to have any of the olive green tinge,that sulphur tuft seems to have,and it seems more delicate than sulphur tuft,especially in the stem??

Pauline | Hi Pauline, thanks for the suggestion, i dont even know where to start with this one 
i've been finding these for some time now,mostly under beech,they tend to go dry and wrinkly as they age and persist in that state for quite some time,

i had considered it being Collybia confluens, which seems to fit the bill in most respects,but not at all convinced,
