| | | Funnel ID please This was found close to the River Tay, near Dunkeld in Perthshire. Head about 8 inches across. You actually have a profile this time but I know I'm not being as good as I should.
Should I be taking out a measure and notebook with me - to delay my husband and the walk further? :-) |

| | | Re: Funnel ID please hi HeatherAnne
this is a Lactarius sp. (you can see the line of 'milk' where the gills have been damaged); there are several similar species and I'll leave it to others to suggest names, though with this group it helps to have young fruit-bodies as well - to see the development - plus the spores often provide important clues.
PS - a word to the wise - going for a walk and mycology don't really mix;
going for a walk and mycology and photography definitely don't mix! You'll have to agree to have stops and then just try to walk and not see anything . . . for heavens sake if people just want to walk get a machine and do it at home while watching the telly.
regards
Chris

I have seen him on BMS forays when he hardly made it out of the car park and had a list as long as anyone's
PS check out the larch bolete thread . . . am I right?
