| | | Birch Polypores? These two pics were taken in October in Cawthorn Woods, Cropton near Pickering, North Yorks. Are they variations of shapes of the Birch Polypore?
I know :-) ... should have taken more pics :-)
P.S. Can a Birch Polypore grow on any tree? Wow, you are thinking - we really have an ignoramous here!!
Many thanks. |

| | | Re: Birch Polypores? Yes these are just variations on a theme of the Piptoporus betulinus. Fortunately it is so distinctive you will get no calls for more photos of the gill or its texture. As far as I know they are very host specific and will only be found on Birch.

| | | Re: Birch Polypores? Thanks Mal, This is one of the few I can recognise now, along with Yellow Staghorn and Giant Polypore!
Mind you, after joining this site, I think I shall be going from strength to strength :-) Many thanks |

| | | Re: Birch Polypores? Thanks for all that, However, it's made me think ... perhaps I've been over confident re Yellow Staghorn and Giant Polypore :-( I'll have to list them to make sure, I think!! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
