Some of the ones I have made give me sleepless nights and I am a real tinker for accuracy. It is one of the hazards of leading forays and in fact being involved with the fungal world. However the quicker we admit our errors (and have a laugh about them) the quicker we learn. This is the main reason to always err on the side of caution when answering the 'Is it Edible' bombardment! Good stuff indeedy!
Maybe a new thread - what's your biggest misidentification - I bet there have been some howlers!

Other than var epipterygia with 4 spored basidia the only two generally accepted species have 2 spored basidia and although it is a good photo it is not THAT good:
