| | | Four for ID Help Please Fungi novice again.
Appreciate any help with these four please: -
An ID to family level would be great. (exact species even better )
Photographed today - mixed woodland.
Fungi 01 - Is this a Stalked Puffball - Calvatia excipuliformis?
About 12cm tall, second picture shows an old one in background.
Fungi 02
Originally thought might be sheathed wood tuft but colouring not right.
Fungi 03
Possibly Hairy Bracket - Trametes hirsuta?
Fungi 04
No idea - growing in leaf litter, about 40mm tall. (Sorry no gill shot).
Regards
Mike.

| | | Re: Four for ID Help Please I think your first one is a common puffball, Lycoperdon sp.

| | | Re: Four for ID Help Please sorry Leif I am going with handkea exculpiformis for 1 because of the very long stem/stipe.
I think number 3 could be beech bracket. trametes gibbosa
4 it is hard to tell because I can't see the gills |

(It was growing on the top side of a fallen trunk).
It is not a great pic to try to identify from , but the bracket was more like a plate - only about 6-10mm thick (i.e. not thick like a birch polypore would be). overall size about 100mm wide by about 200mm long.

| | | Re: Four for ID Help Please No2: could be Kuehneromyces mutabilis, i think i can see a ring and scally stem below it in the second photo, an underside shot would have been very usefull.

| | | Re: Four for ID Help Please hi
I agree about Kuehneromyces . . .
While I can't get excited about the genus, I think #4 is a Russula (note the lack of intermediate gills); the colour (and do I see beech leaves?) might point towards Russula fellea (characteristic smell); but I don't claim a lot of knowledge on Russula
I think the puffball probably is Handkea excipuliformis (but I'd love to see the spores - then no doubts )
best
Chris

| | | Re: Four for ID Help Please Thanks everyone. (Hopefully when my Roger Phillips Mushrooms book arrives, I might stand a fighting chance with some of the simpler ID's).
For these I'll go with: -
1 - Handkea excipuliformis (Probable).
2 - Kuehneromyces mutabilis
3 - Trametes gibbosa Quote:

I'll just log it as: -
4 - Russula sp. (Probable).
