Gymnopilus penetrans for no 1 is my guess. The log though - Calocera cornea and maybe Stereum hirsutum.

Gets the ball rolling.

I think FP Dave is right with the second one (both) and is probably correct with Gymnopilus: but the area of Gymnopilus penetrans / G. sapineus / G. hybridus / G. stabilis is rather confused and a lot of records were probably misnamed in the past (subtleties of colour, cap texture, presence of veil at early stages, spotting of gills or not and to a lesser degree spore-size are all important)

Thanks for the replies. I've only recently started trying to identify the fungi I photograph. And I'm realising it's not easy!!
