| | | Re: more fungi I think the second is clinched by the shot of the pores. In Daedaleopsis confragosa, the pores just appear as a network of circular holes, whereas Daedalea quercina has pores that resemble a maze, which your image shows
Proves how important underside shots are

I made exactly the same mistake some while ago,i was convinced i had found a birch mazegill, (it was on a birch branch) and went as far as posting it as such in the Gallery,
it was'nt until Nick pointed out my error, that i did what i should have done in the first place , checked and doubled checked and was wearing my red face again  it was Daedaleopsis confragosa!!
the photos in Phillips and Jordans were non to clear m'lud - thats my excuse, and i'm sticking with it
