found plenty of this growing amongst moss and also on bare trunks.. 
Help with an ID would be appreciated..

my educated guess would be the Purple Jellydisc, Ascocoryne sarcoides
though there is a similar species which someone else will tell you about im sure!!

Looks a bit like this that I found a few weeks back Jules apart from the fact that your photo is a million times better, my Kodak Easyshare is rubbish!!!
I might ask Santa for a half decent camera for crimbo! Ascocoryne cylichnium? |

I spent a lot of time with this last year and concluded that you have to be very careful with beech jelly disc and purple jelly disc
