| | | Hello! I'm new Hi everyone!
Let me introduce myself. My name's Gabi. I'm 25 and live in London. I'm no expert shroomer, but I have been foraging around since I was young.
It's a shame I found such a wonderful forum full of people that know their stuff so late on in the season. Hopefully you guys can help me expand my knowledge base.
I have two books which I use, ons is the phillips guide with ilustrations, and the other - I can't remeber the name of, with phtographs has been lost in a move so I'll need to get a new one. I like to have two. It makes for better identification
So far, I currently use a combination of field guide books, educated guesswork, and occasionaly because I recognise it from my childhood (parasol/shaggy parasol setc). I have had no foraging freinds to advise me, and I have nothing to compare against. So I'm glad to have found you!
I'll be here, probably being really annoying and asking lots of questions. Please be patient. I want to learn more and expand my knowledge! |

| | | Re: Hello! I'm new Hi Gabi! Welcome to WAB!! Everyone is really nice and there are plenty of experts here who will be more than happy to answer your questions and identify your finds. I'm 14 and this is my first year with fungi (usually im photographing wildflowers) and already I've learnt so much from everyone on here Happy foraging!!

A warm welcome from me too I LOVE it when people ask questions because the rest of us can learn - so ask away

there are things to look at in the winter . . . they are not the usual mushrooms and toadstools of course but there are still interesting things to look out for
of course a lot of them are small and need a microscope to ID, but don't be put off; over the coming months I shall try to post a number of fungi which can be found and named with a fair degree of confidence as the season progresses
the first thing to get (if you haven't already got one is a handlens (pm me and I can let you have some websites of suppliers - I don't want to be accused of advertising ); a simple x10 (for as little as a fiver) will open up a new world and is also very useful for looking at the bigger stuff
best wishes

Chris | Cheers! I never actually got one. Mainly due to a kind of "what's the point" attitude. But it sounds like it's actually quite important!!
I've treid to PM you but am not sure how PMs work on this forum. Do you need a minimum amount of posts or something (some forums need that).
Thanks
G
