| | | Re: Pluteus cervinus?? It's Pluteus cervinus. If your close up is trying to prove that the lamellar edges are darker than the lamellar face, as is typical in Pluteus atromarginatus, then you're to be disappointed I think. P. atromarginatus has very distinctive lamellar edges which are dark brown on a pink gill. The brown parts of 1 in 100 lamellae in your photograph, are probably dirty gills.
I don't know then, I've not enough experience with the latter species to have any valid input. Wait for Neil

| | | Re: Pluteus cervinus?? They are the same species i.e. Pluteus cervinus - extremely common.
I'm wondering why you seem to be concentrating on gill shots, as apart from P.atromarginatus the way to tell other Pluteus spp. is to look at the cap.
Surely you are not pinning your hopes on this being P.atromarginatus are you. ?

out of interest...
Pluteus umbrosus sensu auct., Pluteus nigrofloccosus, Pluteus tricuspidatus, Pluteus cervinus var. atromarginatus, Pluteus cervinus var. nigrofloccosus, Pluteus cervinus subsp. atromarginatus
this a list of the varieties of Pluteus atromarginatus found in the UK, this is just out of interest |
