Long Stemmed Puffball

I found a group of puffballs last week which have extraordinarily long stems (for a puffball). Are these likely just to be good old Lycoperdon perlatum or is there a species with stems that look like this. As you can see from the needles it was predominately spruce trees overhead but there was a mix of trees in this particular area.

By the way you have my permission to moan at me because I haven't even bothered to walk the metre and a half to my bookcase to look up all the different puffballs because I know I'll get the best info here

Glad you flagged this up Nick, as I too found one with a long stem a while ago. I do not know if this is just an abnormality (I see tall specimens quite often) or a completely different species.
