Any ideas what these might be?

These were found in oak beech and birch woodland.

I have seen similar mushrooms in my field guide however nothing quite like these.

I would be very appreciative of a positive id on them.

I associate Clitocybe nebularis with growing on the ground, often forming rings. Does it occur on dead wood?

You'd be right with that association Steve. I think Gledders placed the two uprooted specimens on the wood for a photograph. As Gledders said in the original post, they were found in woodland.

Doh I looked quickly and thought they were growing from the rotten bit of the plank (thought the face of the plank was vertical)

Is the clouded agaric same as I posted for clouded funnel last week?

If it was ID'd as Clitocybe nebularis, then yes.
