The Yellow club, is either Clavulinopsis helvola or C. luteoalba both frequent on soil among unimproved grassland. The second is indeed [i]Lycoperdon excipuliforme/I] many of these puffballs have now been moved to [i]Lycoperdon/I].

| | | Re: Coral & Clavatia Ids I have doubts about this puffball being L. excipuliforme or even utriforme - the spines seem to be singular and not composite or in small groups with a plate, not so sure of anything else it could be though.
Does it look bigger than it actually is ?

| | | Re: Coral & Clavatia Ids it was actually very big. can't really give any measurements or scale because I forgot. It was still bigger than the common puffball.
I don't think its L. utriforme because the walk leader showed me a picture of it in his book and the scales on the ball were nothing like on this.
L. utriforme is what I was actually looking for to show this guy | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
