Roll rim?

I saw these toadstools growing on downland this morning. The nearest I can find in my book is Brown Roll Rim. Is that what this is, or is it something else?

These would appear to be more like Tapinella (Paxillus) atromentosa.

Dig the entire stalk out and look for a dark velvety effect on the lower part of the stem.
If it is this species, it will be growing on old buried conifer roots or stump (or very rarely, a broadleaved tree root)

I don't think it is either but rather a species of Lepista possibly L. irina or more likely L. luscina, nice find.

I have Googled the species you mention there and it does look like L. luscina. Many thanks, Andy and Neil.
