Unknown fungi for ID please




I don't know anything about fungi, but spotted this today while walking through Ashridge, Herts., and wondered what it might be. I'm sure it's very common, but as I only know Chicken of the Woods, Fly Agaric and Verdigris Agaric, it's bound to be a new one for me!

Looks to be a Beech tree to me, so I'd say Phoiota adiposa.

Thanks, fairplay. Sorry, I should have said that it was on a beech tree.

Edit: I presume that was a slight typo and you meant Pholiota adiposa - strangely, there doesn't seem to be any photos of this in the Gallery.
