| | Group of fungi for ID Please Hi folks,
This is a lovely group next to a teasel , cap heads range from 10mm - 25mm
Doesn't look like any ring attached, I should have got a better shot of the gills
I think they were sinuate but not too sure,
Taken at Fowlmead last Sunday, lovely sunny day, Spent in the company of SteveF48

| | | Re: Group of fungi for ID Please These appear to be a species of Cortinarius.
I could look at all the pretty pictures in my books and tell you which it comes closest to, but it doesn't work like that with this Genus, but there should be sufficient distinguishing features showing here for someone with more experience than myself to have a close suggestion.
Neil.
Edit : Looking again, these could be an Inocybe sp. because of the fibrous looking caps, but another difficult and time consuming Genus.

Hi Duncan,
These are Lacrymaria lacrybunda The Weeping Widow. The fibrillose cap, brown & darkening gills ( often with tiny little droplets, hence the vernacular name) . The pattern on the stem is left by a partial veil which covers the gills when young, this marking varies between specimens.

| | | Re: Group of fungi for ID Please Is Lacrymaria velutina the same species as L. Lacrymabunda and your spelling was L. Lacrybunda , what they do have in common is the common name,
The weeping widow, are they one and the same??
Now, some sites say it's edible and some say it's toxic,
I don't intend to eat them, just curious,

Duncan | Yes, they are the same, apologies with spelling, long foraging days take their toll.
