Fomitopsis pinicola update

Here is one of the Fomitopsis pinicola from last spring, despite bits
being cut off it (for id) , all is repaired and quite a lot of growth has
taken place over the last couple of months.

The odd thing is this shows nothing of the leading edge red band they
are famous for, and i have another under observation that is growing
and looks just like the above, yet others we found in the spring were
classically red banded.

I remember that very wet day (28.5.08) only to well JP, when we were joined by Sue and Alan of HFRG and collected a specimen to send to Kew for verification:
