| | | Mushroom for ID I'm afraid I don't have a lot of info to provide on this. It was in a conifer wood, but with other mixed trees in the vicinity. No diagnostic smell. Largish - probably about 15cm diameter.
I'm hoping that someone could at least point me in the right direction.
Thanks

| | | Re: Mushroom for ID Thanks - it certainly does seem to match it. At least now I know what to look for when I see it again.
Is it the ring that most likely points it to the Agaricus sp?

| | | Re: Mushroom for ID Hi Chris,
It is mainly the gill colour - the Agaricus spp. usually start off pink and as the spores mature, they become darker as in your photo.
Yours is the 'open cap' stage as seen in the green grocer shops - not to say that yours will make a good meal as it is a different species to that sold in shops.

| | | Re: Mushroom for ID Thanks for the info on the ID for Agaricus sp.
I'm still far too much of an amateur at this sort of thing to go around eating the mushrooms I find! I'll stick to the green grocer for now.
