Sorry about the rubbish pic! | Certainly looks like an Ascocoryne sp. Check the spores out to differentiate from Ascocoryne sarcoides. |

I haven't been bothering to log out recently, I'm a one finger typer and find it easier now just to stay logged in, so that gives the impression I'm on call 24 hours a day.  
Anyway, as stated previously, it is one or the other - both commonly occur on Beech, but according to Fungi of Switzerland, it is impossible to tell which is which in the field.
Furthermore, yours seems to be in the 'conidial' stage (before it developes Ascospores). It is the Ascospores which need to be measured to tell one from tuther'
