| | | Unidentified Fungi I'd like to know if these are safe to eat?
Please see images of fungi in shade of apple tree in groups of 10 - 20 all about 40 - 65 cm in diameter. Clean grassland near to trees; apple and willows.
Thanks. Fungi - Wild About Britain Pics |

Can YOU identify them with certainty? If not then you cannot eat them. You might get someone on this forum to give you a tentative id from a photo but there is far too little information in the photo to be sure and you should not take anyone else's say so as a justification to eat something that could kill you.

| | | Re: Unidentified Fungi They are an Armillaria sp. Possibly ordinary Honey Fungus - if so it won't kill you, just your apple tree and any other tree/shrub nearby.
If eaten, they can give you nasty indigestion though.
Neil.
P.S. Jimmy's girlfriend (of Jimmy's Farm fame) ate these and became seriously ill and was rushed to hospital. She recovered later though.

Even if not edible it's good to know what it is as we do have a lot of visitors in the garden.
Many thanks,
