I think this is an edible bolete sp? Its a sorry looking specimin I know and well past its sell by date
Shame i didn't catch it earlier as it was massive! Any help appreciated. |

| | | Re: What Bolete is this? because of the funny coloured top of the stem could it be boletus luridus? saw one that looked similar a few weeks back - but your stem could be that colour just because its older.
ps how did you get your name to have the spade in it? |

So, anyway is where I found this a good place for more of the same type of mushrooms?
Whilst i'm here what is the best type of soil/trees etc to find lovely edibles.
My hunting ground at the moment has lots of birch trees ,some oak and chestnut, its also very high up (1000 ft above sea level apparently). |

birch is usally good for fly agaric - but I do know not to eat that!
If you go back every once in a while - there should be more of them boletes! |
