| | | Eyelash Close Up and A Fungi for ID Please. Found this Eyelash - Scutellinia subhirtella today, and managed to get a decent close up showing the "eyelashes".
Thought it might be worth putting on the forum.
Also,
Could anyone give me a steer on this please?
All growing in close proximity, on the base of a Monkeypuzzle tree - (Arucaria arucana).
I think the ones in image 3 are just more mature, but haven't a clue as to what it would be.
Thanks once again.
Regards

Mike. | Out of interest why not Scutellinia scutellata Mike?
I am hopeless at pics but think you have honey fungi in the second image.

Todays photo was taken at the same patch of Eyelash as an image I previouisly posted for identification on 5th Oct.
Rightly or wrongly, I assumed it was the subhirtella. Several people replied but no-one queried it.
Is it more likely to be the scutellata?
(I've also seen references to scutella - would that be the same as scutellata?).

Richard | I agree, young Honey Fungus would be my guess also.

Your fungi certainly looks pretty much identical to mine.
I assume you are looking for the ID too?

| | | Re: Eyelash Close Up and A Fungi for ID Please. I think the eyelash gets put down as Scutellinia scutellata by most people.
At the last count i heard there are 26 species of Scutellinia that look very similar, so without special books and microscopy S. scutellata will remain the norm.

| | | Re: Eyelash Close Up and A Fungi for ID Please. The figure of 26 was given by Mykonick when i mentioned my literature
reaches to 12 species. It's a difficult call really, do we want to take home
and scope every find or leave well alone, usually i would go for the latter.
