| | | Small Fungi on Oak roots Hi all,
I found the following growing at the base of a mature oak. It's a little un, 17mm across at it's widest point and 10mm tall. The flesh is firm and tough, it feels like cork, it is pure white when cut, discolouring to a pale brown. When fresh the colours on the cap were brighter and paler, more yellow and pink than the pictures show (similar to the colours on a peach). The surface of the cap is dry and very slightly velvety. The gills are free, white and bruised dark brown. I couldn't get a spore print.
Any help with ID appreciated
Thanks
