Hi Mal,
That has to be one for Kew I'd say - unless you can Google it.
It's not exactly an easy size to illustrate in books is it. !!

I finally got round to trying to identify the last of my finds today and guess what a "typhula" in one of the pots turned out to be another of the cordyceps 
I can understand how something like C. militaris can just sit in the ground and wait for a few unsuspecting victims and so you get a few fruit bodies in the same area. This Cordyceps attacks the flies and they must travel a long way before scumming to the fungus so what are the chances that two are within a few feet?

That is just what I thought and saw pretty good comparisons on the net but the Checklist says that this is not a British species 
One of the specimens is dried and waiting to go to Kew.

Just heard back from Kew and it is "actually Hymenostilbe muscarium, uncommon, but maybe overlooked, on various diptera. Considered anamorphic Cordyceps, but apparently not linked to any teleomorph".
