And the fungi which do this will tend to be the ones whose "children" will survive and tend to do the same thing.
Also seems to reflect what we actually see. I concur that 2006 here was a hot summer and a good mushroom autumn. Furthermore there was an exceptionally hot summer way back in 1975 or 1976 which was followed by a spectacular mushroom season- so I have heard anyway .
Nick. | I have had it confirmed that 1976 was indeed a bumper season in the UK.
I had a quick look at lunchtime at one of my spots for Boletus edulis and found 3! Two were almost eaten to death by slugs but one was perfectly formed. The largest one was about 15cm across it's cap, and it was not there on Saturday, or if it was it was very, very small. Found one Bay Bolete too. Also noticed many Fly Agarics plus Lactarius torminosus amoungst others. Not bad for half an hour. |

I've only had a half hour break from my keyboard today to walk the dog with Jon. I have just stopped typing now. Not good. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
