| | | A question and 1 I.D please How common or uncommon is it to find Fly Agarics growing with a beech tree??
These plus a few others were growing directly under a large bech tree, the only other tree was a near by oak, there was lots of holly & Ivy though.
Growing under the beech tree were also these milk caps though im not sure what kind they are so any I.D's are welcome..... |

Hi, Fly Agaric with Beech is not unheard of though its not a particularly common occurence. The Lactarius not sure of, would need a bit more info.

| | | Re: A question and 1 I.D please Hi ,
thats at least two growing under beech trees , as i found one on friday in clumber park ! (maybe the boys will find it over the weekend?)
the milkcap looks very like some clitocybe nebula i also found near the fly agaric,
pity i did not get a picture,(the camera card was full, so as both are fairly common ,(perhaps not under beech) i didnt delete any of my earlier pictures ))

| | | Re: A question and 1 I.D please Birch roots can be quite far reaching, so it's always possible the Fly Ags are still mycorhizal with a nearby Birch if one was present.
I reckon your Lactarius was just Clitocybe nebularis after all, cos none of your shots show any latex.

| | | Re: A question and 1 I.D please I agree it looks like a clitocybe to me.
I was lucky enough to find some fly agaric today under birch trees but this is the first time in ages. What trees does fly agaric grow under usually? I have checked every birch tree I see and not many have fly agaric under them |

| | | Re: A question and 1 I.D please I would say Betula is it's usual host over Northern Europe, if not all Europe, but it has been known to occur in Pine woods too.

I have checked every birch tree I see and not many have fly agaric under them | you should have made the trip to clumber park!!, almost every other birch has a fly agaric under (or near it)at the moment,
and re some of your other posts you would also have found your amanita citrina in quantity too,(most of the old beeches have had at least 2 or 3) and russula nigericans has been everywhere, especially on lime tree avenue!
also on lime tree avenue over the last week mycena pura have been popping up in great numbers,
it seems odd that here in the midlands these things grow by the barrowfull , but in other places are scarce?
but living next door to clumber is a great asset!!

| | | Re: A question and 1 I.D please Thanks for the input, appreciated but personally after googling this mushroom mentioned i can say this milk cap don't look nowt like it.
Though not obvious if you go to the picture below and open it, then click on it so as to get the big one up, look between 6 O'clock and 9 o'clock on the mushroom... i scored the gills with my finger nails and it started to excrete a milky substance.
