Found this amanita in Hawley Woods today. Think it's
Amanita citrina var. alba but could anyone please confirm this?

The specimen was white through and through, with a few scales left on top
indicting citrina.

| | | Re: Ident needed please amanita citrina? No need to apologise Dave it's not a bad photo at all! It's hard not to overexpose in situations like this unless you have a diffuser handy. Both A. citrina and A. citrina var alba are very common, so it could well be either. |

If you come across another of what you might believe to be A. citrina give it a sniff as it really does, realiably smell of raw potatoes, just one of the characteristics that helps distinguish it from the Death Cap, which has more sickly sweet smell. That in your pic is indeed A. citrina var. alba.
