| | | Is This Amanita Vaginata ?? I found this today in clumber park on a woodland path edge , in grass , close to birch saplings and conifers,
it seems to fit the description of amanita vaginata closely ?
its approx 4 to 5 inch tall and the cap was approx 3 to 4 inch across
have i made a correct id or another of my wild guesses ?

| | | Re: Is This Amanita Vaginata ?? I'd say you're spot on Brian. The cap striations are a huge defining characteristic, and we can rule out Amanita fulva due to the cap colour.

| | | Re: Is This Amanita Vaginata ?? Interesting... I had one like this on Sunday but until this thread couldn`t pin it down. The stem on mine was darker though and when I pulled it up any volval remains must have remained in the grass, otherwise identical.
Thankyou very much

Nick | Hi Nick,
thanks for the confirmation , i have found quite a few of these recently, but due to either a full memory card or flat batteries in the camera at the time , this is the first one i have been able to capture.
thanks , Brian |
