| | | 2 fungi for ID Please Hi,
I have two fungi for ID. Photos were taken a few days ago in E Sussex.
I think one maybe Orange Oak Bolete - Laccinum quercinum
The Stem when cut turned black. The longer I left it the blacker it got.
I have no idea about this one.
Thanks Dave |

| | | Re: 2 fungi for ID Please The first is definitely a Leccinum, but I'm a little unsure on distinguishing the features between L. quercinum and L. versipelle. I think that Leccinum versipelle bruises darker? |

Thanks Dave | HI Dave,
This now called Leccinum aurantiacum and is not confined to Oask as once thought it also grows with Birch and Poplar.

Referring to Phillips, L. aurantiacum is a separate species to L. quercinum. Apparently it grows with Aspen |

L. aurantiacum is now L. rufum and L. quercinum is also L. aurantiacum var. quercinum
yes/no ??
i think they just like to confuse us
fun though!

Shall we just agree that it's a Leccinum?
