| | | Random Lycoperdum? ID Help Found this at Nine Ladies in Derbyshire, it was growing in a birch wood.
The only ones I find in phillips that look like it are all a supposed to be a lot smaller. This beast was hard to miss as it was about 30cm tall.
Several older specimens were lying not far away and were very dark brown and, smooth and papery.
Any ideas?

| | | Re: Random Lycoperdum? ID Help Hi Jon,
This is Lycoperdon excipuliforme the Pestle Puffball, they start off being pure white, but within a few days start to turn brown.
Along with Lycoperdon utriforme the Mosaic Puffball, they were formerly placed in the genus : Handkea
