| | The Aniseed Prince I've not come across The Prince before, and this glorious beast smelled very strongly of aniseed (or liquorice at a push) which is why I left it where I found it!!!
I was expecting a smell of almonds or bitter almonds. Which is why I discounted it as The Prince, but it simply can't be anything else as far as I can tell.
All of the guides say the smell should be bitter almonds or almonds except one (that I've checked).. Quote:
FLESH: White, Yellowing. Smells of aniseed or almonds.

| Well I'm chuffed I found one, but totally gutted I didn't bring it home. I won't make that mistake again, and I thought it would be worth mentioning here as it doesn't appear to be common knowledge that The Prince can smell of aniseed (very strongly too.) |

Cheers for the account Steve. Tis a fine looking fungus - big too! I'll add that to the memory bank about the fragrance in case I chance upon one. |
