This was growing on the inside of a very old sweet chestnut tree. Any idea what it is? |

it has the same sort of colour as the blusher and is also quite shiny. I am probably totally wrong but I can always guess!  |

I think growing on this substrate it could be Pleurotus dryinus.

Keep your eye on it and update us. I think it's Paxillus involutus- the colour is spot on and that rim is so distinctive. I've seen it occasionally growing from tree stumps.
EDIT: After looking further, I'm 100% convinced that this is Paxillus involutus- that small pattern around the rim and the look of the cap is so typical.
