| | | Slime mould or early stage of a fungus? I came across this growing on top of moss on the trunk of a living spruce tree in a plantation forest. I looks like a slime mould, but I'm not sure. It felt jelly-like on top and moist, but then again, every thing in the forest was moist!
I've previously seen the yellow Dog's vomit Slime Mould on the top of a cut tree trunk. |

I'm hoping one of the experts can confirm (or advise if it's not ).

| | | Re: Slime mould or early stage of a fungus? My initial thought was a Tubifaria.sp forming up but that could be way of.
A photograph 24 hours after this one would probably clear up the uncertainty.
So many start as white clumps but change dramatically in a short time.
