1 could be Amanita excelsa var spissa
2 is liable to be Boletus cisalpinus
3 is Daedalea quercina
4 is I think Inocybe geophylla var lilacina
5 is Lactarius sp without a lot more detail
6 might be Lyophyllum sp again more detail needed
7 Russula ochroleuca
8 Russula sp
9 Not trametes versicolor but not sure what it is

Hi Pete
No. 4 Is neither I. geophyla or L. amethystina could be Mycena pura or a Collybia of some description.
No 6. Is a Tricholoma most likely T. scalpturatum. I've been getting this under Hornbeam recently.
Thats, it.

I found scalpturatum from the site today so more than likely. Which collybia is this colour?

Mal | Interesting call, I have absolutely no info on Boletus cisalpinus except that it is commom and easily confused with B. chrysenteron
Obviously there are differences in the cap surface Mal, I would hear your observations. |

Obviously there are differences in the cap surface Mal, I would hear your observations. | According to Alan Hills who knows a bit about this family chrysenteron cracks but never shows red in these cracks any areas damaged or eaten however will turn coral. Cysalpinus cracks exposing white or rosy or intense pink.

| | | Re: Castle Howard Arboretum-Marks out of ten please Just when you think its safe to go in the water with the big boys you realise you can`t swim!
Many thanks to all for comments and I would add;
My no.4 the lilac one, does look good for Mycena pura esp the gills.
My no.6 was definitely lactarius with white milk exuding from the gills.
My no.7 (poss Lyophyllum). I considered Tricholoma but the gills seemed to me to be adnate, whilst all my info on tricholoma indicates emarginate or adnexed gills.
I do have more pictorial info on some of these if anyone thinks it would assist.

Pete | Not only did I get some of the ID's wrong I got the numbers to my suggestions wrong and I think I have put the others off. Tricholoma scalpturatum has a beige grey finely scaly cap so this is No 7 not 6 which is as you say a Lactarius. As I said I found scalpturatum today and the caps look the same but I also found Lyophyllum decastes and this is a much closer match for the gills so now I really don't know. I have found pura near the gate with the sliding weight leading up to the old carpark so again that is more than likely and your photo doesn't match the Inocybe geophylla I found today too well.
