| | | Bolete, Tripe Fungus & Red Mushroom for Identification. 1) This boletus was growing under a birch tree. I didn't have my good camera sorry. It was about 8 cm cap diameter. It had pale pores and a paler cap than leccinum scabrum.
2)Sorry about the photo. It was growing on a pile of dead wood and it looked like jelly ear but was paler and different shaped.
3) This was growing inside a hole in a beech tree. Will get a better photo on Wedsday. |

| | | Re: Bolete, Tripe Fungus & Red Mushroom for Identification. I suspect no2 is a peziza.sp
and No3 is Fistulina hepatica.

| | | Re: Bolete, Tripe Fungus & Red Mushroom for Identification. Something not quite right here - No3 seems to be F.hepatica but growing on Beech ? Me thinks not. Is there anybody OUT THERE (Pink Floyd) who has seen this on Beech before ?
No1 probably is just L. scabrum - it is quite variable in different shades of brown.

Neil. | The answer to your qeustion Neil is NO and I doubt whether that is [i]F. hepatica[/I growing from a Beech. It looks to me as if it an Agaracoid mushroom, with stalk and cap, the stalk being buried in the wood, not sure whether it will have pores or gills underneath though?

| | | Re: Bolete, Tripe Fungus & Red Mushroom for Identification. Naming peziza sp without microscopy is a best gess scenario,
from their general form and white scurf on the under side,
my "best gess" would be Peziza vesiculosa.
