| | | Craterellus cornucopioides Back from a 2 week holiday and I had a little look around the New Forest this morning.
I noticed huge patches of Craterellus cornucopioides (Horn of Plenty). In places they were literally in their 1000's! I have never seen so many and at times it was hard not to step on then. I tried to take some photo's and I will post later, however, I do find it a difficult to photograph. As any one else noticed this fungus? Conditions seems to be good for it this season. |

| | | Re: Craterellus cornucopioides Absolutely right. I was down there on Friday, and came away with about three pounds, now nicely dried ready for winter. Plenty of Hedgehog too, and should be a lot of Chanterelle this week, judging by all the small ones around. |

| | | Re: Craterellus cornucopioides Have been picking Hedgehog fungus since the middle of June and Chanterelles every week (when I have not been away) since the end of May. In one haul I got about 2kg of Chanterelles. It has been a good season for them, and many of my patches are on their second flush. However, the forecast has NO rain until the beginning of October. Chanterelles need rain in-order to grow. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
