| | | Thetford Forest Packing my camera and knife and making the trip to Thetford this weekend. Anybody know what my chances are of finding Ceps there?
Hoping to bag my first ever specimen and hopefully a few other specimens for the photo album and cooking pot.
Now, I Wouldn't want to invade anyones patch but a heads up on which part of the forest to head to would be much appreciated
Oh, and a good parking spot |

I can only tell you where not to go, as I didn't have any success on a transient foray a few years ago. Unless you want a few stone of false chanterelles, that is. |

| | | Re: Thetford Forest Just out of Thetford (The Other Side), try Knettishall Heath. I shall be there both Tomorrow and Sunday. Usually get a good catch of Ceps. It always turns up excellent fungi. If you're intent on making it Thetford Forest, it's difficult to say- most of the places that are well known are full of kids and cost £6 to park- I recommend finding a quiet picnic site somewhere. Maybe Lyndford Stag or Two Mile Bottom. |

| | | Re: Thetford Forest Just got back after an early start. Tomtom couldn't find Knettishall so ended up going to Elveden Forest wandering round the bike tracks. Was very wet and foggy but found loads and loads of fungi like puffballs (growing out of a tree), bay bolete, yellow stagshorn, chicken of the woods, sickners, slippery jacks, magic mushrooms and a few more that I need id's for. Sorry haven't put the latin names up yet as I'm still learning them. Just going to upload the pics now.
Thought I had found a cep but the stem appears to be too long and thin. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
