| | | Re: Horn of Plenty? I wonder as well, all the tiny ones along with those in my photo seemed to have a more open (horn) look about them, but maybe.!

Cheers | Hi Stewy,
I think what you have there is Pseudocraterellus sinuosus I see them in the New Forest most years, mixed in with the Winter Chanterelles.

Andy | I have to agree more so since my recent encounter with Lentinellus cochleatus which i was confusing with a Craterellus. Craterllus cornucopioides
I don't know if my experience with the few sites i know of tallies with those of others, but i do think there appears to be a close association with Beech/Chestnut trees and close to where Deer bed down. It may just be that that's what we get round here so local habitats may vary. Also they tend to grow in depressions and on slopes where they flatten, I've often wondered if this could be due to wind drift blowing spores down hill and them collecting where eddies in the wind mean there are more chances for the spores to land in close proximity. It could be due to these dips in the woodland floor are where the run off water collects, so any spores collected by the run off will settle in pockets.
I must be lucky as i find them almost every year. Keep looking guys they are lovely fresh and make a great dried seasoning.
