Questions make questions... but please can you tell us newbies ,, which variety is this. (that would really help) .. or is it a secret ? Looks like a shrivelled panther , but no ring/skirt ?

In this case JAJ made a justifiable comment (as I'm sure we all realise now) for not anywhere was the common name or scientific name given for this fungus. (as far as I could see)
Something all the regulars should be aware of, as newbies such as JAJ, would have no idea.

Fungi of yesterday and the whole point of the visit to Roudsea - four of us (Joan aka Gracie, Mike aka Lancashire Lad and David aka Davy Crocket) so four pairs of eyes on stalks
The two 'angels' I found last Tues had mysteriously been taken completely ..... and I was downhearted having got three other folks to see this very thing and it was no more .......
Gracie saved the day by wandering a little wider and shouting 'Ive got something white here - is this it'? I didn't want to get too excited in case it was A. citrina alba - but it turned out to be the real McCoy! Thank goodness for that Thank you Joan - big thankyou
Apologies to the other three for not re finding the Dogs Stinkhorn ..... hang me next time we go if I fail again - but in mitigation it was pouring down and we had been at it 7 hours and if all else fails to impress - I have been poorly you know (whimper ) Hahahahahah - sorry guys will try harder next time
