The lawn is full of Honey fungus emerged overnight, they do seem everywhere this season - 30 ft away from oaks and hawthorns, but thats not bothered them!

Among the so called winter species which are starting to appear, I was pleased with my first sigting of Panellus serotinus - Olive Oysterling; spotted today by my walking companion, Caroline, when she sat down on a fallen tree trunk for a fag break:

Cant let Si have all the fun in the New Forest
Todays sightings included my first Chicken of the woods and some Shaggy Pholiota (not processed the pics yet)
Heres a few i put in the Gallery a few days a go from some recent trips out,
Orange Peel Fungus - Aleuria aurantia 
Cauliflower fungus - Spirassis crispa

The David and Goliath of Helvellas found, frozen solid, on Yateley Common yesterday morning: the larger specimen measured 20cm tall.  Helvella crispa

nice helvellas! my fungus of the day was the L.saeva which they were selling at the market under the name 'blueleg buttons' for nearly £2 for 200g! not wild though so not really worthwhile |

As far as I know, Lepista saeva has not been cultivated yet, so presumably they must be 'wild'. ?
