I have smelt rotting corpses. I had the unfortunate talent as a child of always being able to smell out dead animals in the garden i.e. birds etc, and the stink horn is reminiscent of that smell. But hey they're so sexy who cares about the stink... LMAO... |

| | | Re: Fungus of the day! Well my fungus for yesterday was a first for me. It was by a Beech stump growing close to Coprinus micaceus and Stropharia aeruginosa. Humaria hemisphaerica;
Not only a beautiful thing to look at macroscopically, but microscopically stunning too;

Nick | It certainly is - you seem to be getting on well with the microscope - any hints?

Looking at the black & white photo you posted showing you with your new scope it appears not to be a trinocular - in which case am I right in assuming you have bought some adapter to clamp the camera to the eye-piece ?
If not, I guess you do the same as me, i.e. take loads of shots with the camera hand held against the eye piece and keep the best, but I cannot see how you can do this with a DSLR lens, unless of course, you use a tripod and self timer or cable release.
Excellent shots all the same.

| | | Re: Fungus of the day! my fungus of the day would have to be either of these two, thought to be tricholoma imbricatus ,
or  lacterius deterrminus .
both were found in the same pine wood , at either side of a footpath, one side with pines (t.imbricatus) the other side with spruce(l.deterrminus)
as i had never found either one before it was a good find, i also found another 6 fungi in the same wood , still waiting to be identified,

| | | Re: Fungus of the day! It is a Binocular, and I have a USB Microscope camera that fits in where the eyepiece fits. I take out an eyepiece (The camera is 10x to start with to act as an eyepiece) and pop it in |
