David | If this comment relates to the the photo originally thought to be Mycena flavoalba David - then it isn't Pluteus chrysophaeus either ! IF it's a Pluteus (with a big stress on the word if !) then it's most likely Pluteus plautus in one of it's numerous guises !

Nick | Im still not happy with it being Pluteus chrysophaeus..Yellow shield either..but hey what do i know..   .We have spotted it three times in the last three weeks David...we should i mean You should have taken a specimen back with you.. Maybe next time.

but other research shows it to be, as you say, infinitely variable, so looks like I am going to have to concede and put it down to experience. Why didn't I collect it ???
What did you think about Nick's image in the Gallery?
