Let me write the foreword |

Let me write the foreword | It would be easier and better if Nick wrote the book and I provided the images Now there's an offer worth considering .... Nick

John | The problem is (and it's a real problem !) that one has to get a publisher first - and usually they don't want to know !! Unless of course, they approach you first !! [Too many fungus guides around at the moment apparently !]
I know - I've been there !
Also, there is another problem John in that your photo's deserve a large format view to get the real quality that lies therein, but they (publishers) would insist on doing one of those vile 'photographic' guides where all of the images are cut down to about 1 -2 inches square so that one loses all of the quality and can hardly see the image to start with. And I think your images should not be treated in such a cavalier fashion !
Nick

Nick | Too true Nick. It was the first thing on my mind when I first thought about the book It is a real problem indeed!

Nick | Just read your edit Nick.
Oh so true! I am currently doing a ‘pictorial’ album of Clumber Park Fungi, for use within the National Trust Conservation Centre. It’s based on a folder of images, 2 per A4 double sided. At least visitors will see a reasonable sized image of what to expect to see there.
Even at this size it’s difficult to fully admire their beauty... On our University lecture theatre screens they look awesome! …. OK, not quite life size!
It’s quite ironic when I look back as to why I started photographing fungi! I was totally dissatisfied with the quality used within books and knew I could do better. The result, yes maybe I can, but what do I do with the images!!!
I’ve just done a quick numbers check on my main Clumber / Longshaw fungi images since 2003 … 153,027 images!
I think I may need to see my Doctor

John | What....!!!! I thought I had far too many photo's John but 153,027.....................................????
Well if we included them all it would at least make the WORLD'S LARGEST COFFEE TABLE BOOK (Guinness Book of Records material !) wouldn't it.
And I bet most of them are worth looking at !
