| | | Deadly or Not?? Hi,
I've have a fungi neatly growing in my newly built greenhouse. Using John's excellant Gallery I believe that it is Xylaria longipes (Dead Moll's Fingers).
Could anyone confirm this please, two pictures below.
It's about 4 x 6 cm in size and appears to be growing from roots, dead or alive I don't know.
Also is this fungus safe and how can I remove it? I normally let fungi grow where they are as they bring that little extra into the garden however, with this being in a greenhouse where we're growing fruit, I don't want lots of spores floating around!!!!
All help most appreciated.
Cheers
Gadge
P.S. Great site |

| | | Re: Deadly or Not?? Ooops forgot the second bit
It's normal habitat is on stumps and fallen branches so a little careful exploration is needed to locate and remove the underside of buried branches associated with it.
The spores are released from the tips and the fungi is not edible.
Hope this helps
