| | | Re: Grassland Mushroom ID Have a look and see if there are any more where you found that one. You might notice that they are growing in a circle. Even if you don't see any other fungi you might notice that the grass is growing at different lengths to make a pattern that looks like a ring in the ground when looked at from a distance. In olden days people thought that these rings were caused by fairies dancing around in a circle in the middle of the night, hence the common name for the fungus.
