| | A book on fungi Does anyone know of a good but not too expensive book that could help me tell which of my local shrooms are edible,I have the Phillips book and although very good for the more distinctive ones it doesn't help with the more simple looking things........
As an example I cannot tell what these are !
The first three shots may or may not be a stainer?
1a
1b
1c
And these two shots of a big mushroon growing under a fir of some kind ?

| | | Re: A book on fungi Books on edible fungi? I rely on my Peter Jordan - Edible Mushrooms. I don't know any others, I just read descriptions in Phillips and Jordan.
As for your Agaricus, it's not staining much if it's A. xanthodermus. Not really a clue |

There are thousands of mushrooms round here, trouble is I don't know which are edible,I have at least learnt what a death cap looks like so hopefully if I go wrong it will be just a bad tum rather than a long visit to a funeral parlour
